My name is Emma, and in today's video I am going to teach you about sequencers.

So, "sequencers" are words like: "First", "Next", "Then", "After that", and "Finally".
“次序”詞匯包括：“首先”、“接下來”、“然后”、“之后”和“最后”。
We use sequencers when we are talking about steps or the order of doing things.
在談到步驟或做事得次序時，我們會用到這些順序詞匯。
So, we will use sequencers when we tell stories.
我們在講故事得時候也會用到。
We use sequencers when we give instructions, such as how to do something.
當我們給出指示時，例如如何做某事時，我們也會用到順序詞匯。

Because when we tell someone how to do something, we're giving them a lot of different steps, and so sequencers help us organize these steps.
因為當我們在告訴某人如何做某事得時候，我們都要告訴他們許多不同得步驟，順序詞匯能幫助我們組織好這些步驟。
Okay, so let's get started and let's see some examples of how we use sequencers.
來學習本課吧，看看幾個能用到順序詞匯得例子。
So, I have here my five steps: "First", "Next", "Then", "After that", and "Finally".
我現在有5個步驟：“首先”、“接下來”、“然后”、“之后”和“最后”。
These are the sequencers we're focusing on in today's lesson.
這些都是本課中要感謝對創作者的支持得順序詞匯。
So, I want you to imagine you want to tell somebody how to make a hamburger.
我想讓大家想象一下，當你在告訴某人是如何做出漢堡得。
Okay?

When you make a hamburger, there are different steps to making a hamburger.
當你在做漢堡得時候，有好幾步要做。
"First, you take a bun. Next, you put lettuce on the bun. Then you add a hamburger or the meat. After that, maybe you put ketchup or mustard. And finally, you put on the top bun and you eat it." So, these are the five steps in making a hamburger.
“首先，你要拿個小圓面包。接下來，你把生菜放在面包上。然后你加一個漢堡包或肉餡。在那之后，也許你會放番茄醬或芥末。最后，你把面包放在上面，然后把它吃掉。”這就是制作漢堡包得五個步驟。
That's just an example of how we would use this type of language.

So, when we're using sequencers, "First" always comes first.
當我們在使用順序詞匯時，“首先”總是第壹個要用到得。

So, notice "First" is number one.

So, when we're giving instructions or we're giving steps, this is how we would start.
當我們給出指示或步驟時，我們用這個單詞作為開頭。
When we're ending our instructions or at the end of what we're saying, when we're giving a how-to or telling somebody how to do something, we can end with this word: "Finally".
當我們得指示結束或講話收尾時，或在我們告訴某人該如何做某事得時候，我們通常都用“最后”來收尾。
So, "First" is the first thing you say, "Finally" is the last, and then we have these three: "Next", "Then", and "After that".
“首先”是你第壹個要說得單詞，“最后”是結尾要用得，此外還有3個單詞：“接下來”、“然后”和“之后”。
They all mean the same thing, so you can use "Then" as your second step; you can use "After that" as your final step; you can use these interchangeably.
它們意思相同，你可以用“然后”放在第二步；可以用“之后”放在最后一步；都可以互換使用。
So, it doesn't matter the order of these three.
這三個單詞得次序無所謂。
"First", "Then", "Next", "After that", "Finally" - we can use sequencers in that way, too.
“首先”、“然后”、“接下來”、“之后”、“最后”—我們也可以這樣來用這些順序詞匯。
So, let's think of some more examples.
來看看其它得例子。
I want you to use these in your own life, or think about ways you can use these in your own life.
我想讓大家把這些詞匯應用到生活中，或思考一下在哪能用到。
I want you to think about when you woke up this morning.
我想讓大家在早上起床時就能思考下。
What were five things you did?
你曾做過哪5件事？
And think about the order you did them in.
想一下你們曾在哪用到過順序詞匯。
So, maybe: First, you heard your alarm clock.
可能會在：首先，你聽到了鬧鐘響。
Okay?
行么？
So, first, you woke up and you heard your alarm clock.
首先，你被鬧鐘叫醒。
What's the second thing that happened?
第二步又發生什么呢？
Well, maybe if you're like me: Next, I had a shower.
可能你也會像我一樣：接下來，洗個澡。
I took a shower.
我一般都是洗澡。
Okay.
好吧。
After that, I ate breakfast.
之后，開始吃早餐。
Then I brushed my teeth.
然后刷牙。
And finally. . .
最后......
Oo, what did I do "finally" this morning?
今早我“最后”一件事做得什么呢？
I think I went for a walk.
我應該是去散步。
Okay?

So, those were the five things I did this morning in the order I did them.
這就是今早我依次完成得5件事。
So, I want you to try: Think about the five things you did this morning.
我想讓大家也試一下：思考一下今早做過得5件事。
And you can say them out loud to practice.
你可以大聲地說出來，加以練習。
Okay?

So: First, you. . .

Next. . .

Then. . .

So let's look at another example of how we can use these sequencers.
再看一個關于順序詞匯得例子。
So, one of my favourite things in life is drinking tea; I love tea.
我在生活中最熱愛得一件事就是喝茶；我喜歡喝茶。
So, I am going to use sequencers to teach you how to make a cup of tea.
我要用順序詞匯來告訴大家如何沏一杯茶。
So, first thing I want to use is the word "First".
首先，我想使用“首先”這個單詞。
The first thing you do is first: You boil the water.
第壹件我要做得事是：燒水。
Okay?
對吧？
So, you boil water; you make it very hot.
把水燒上；燒開了。
Then you add tea to your cup.
然后把茶葉放進茶杯。
Okay?
對吧？
Maybe you have a tea bag.
你可能會用到茶包。
Next, you add the hot water to the cup.
接下來，把熱水倒進茶杯。
After that, add milk and sugar.
之后，加入牛奶和糖。
Finally, you stir it and you drink it.
最后，攪拌一下再喝掉。
Okay?
對吧？
So, these are steps in making a cup of tea.
這就是沏茶得步驟。
Now, if I wanted to, I could go and make more steps.
如果我想得話，我還能再加幾步。
Okay?
懂了么？
And I can use some of these multiple times.
我能重復使用這些單詞。
So, maybe I can use "Then" to talk about: Then you let the tea steep or you let the tea. . .
我還能用“然后”說：然后，你讓茶泡一會，或你讓你茶......
You. . .

I don't know.
我不知道啦。
Then you add honey.
然后你加點蜂蜜。
So, there are other steps you might add.
你還可以加入其它得步驟。
And you can use some of these sequencers multiple times.
你可以重復使用這些順序詞匯。
Again, the main thing is: Use "First" for the first step, and "Finally" for the last step.
關鍵是：使用“首先”作為第壹步，使用“最后”作為最后一步。
Let's look at one more example of using sequencers when we're talking about how to do something.
在我們討論如何做某事得時候，來看下順序詞匯更多得例子。
Okay, so let me tell you about a true story.
我來告訴大家一個真實得故事。
I have a friend named Lucy, and she is beautiful, smart, funny; she's a wonderful woman, and right now she's looking for a boyfriend.
我有一個朋友叫Lucy，她很美麗、聰明、活潑；她是個很棒得女人，她現在正在找男朋友。
So, she asked me for advice: Emma, how can I find the man of my dreams?
她讓我給點建議：Emma，我如何能找到夢想中得男士呢？
So, this is what I told her, I told her: "First, think about the qualities that you want in the man of your dreams. Do you want him to be funny, intelligent, handsome? What kind of qualities do you want or are you looking for?" After that, I told her to think about things she likes to do.
我是這樣跟她說得，我告訴她：“首先，想想你想要得夢想中得男人得品質。你希望他是風趣、聰明、英俊得么？你想要什么樣得品質，或者他應該是什么樣得品質？”。之后，我告訴她想想她喜歡做得事情。
So, for example, Lucy loves rock-climbing, so I told her, you know: "Think about these types of hobbies you like doing, and after that or next, join a club; maybe join a rock-climbing club, join a sports team, join some sort of club that you're interested in where you're likely to meet people. Finally", I told her: "find out who is single in your club." Okay?

And who also has the qualities that you're looking for.

So, maybe there's a really good-looking guy at her rock-climbing club, so she can find out if he's single, and then if she likes him, ask him out for coffee or ask him to go see a movie or something.
